Delta State University Alumni Service Award Descriptions
Outstanding Alumnus of the Year: Presented to alumnus who has made some significant contributions to human or institutional programs in which a situation, an institution or a movement has been materially changed for the better because of that individual’s personal participation.
Hall of Fame Award: Induction into the Delta State University Alumni Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the DSU Alumni Association. Established in 2007, the Alumni Hall of Fame is extended to alumni and friends who have achieved professional distinction and made significant community service contributions at the local, national and/or international level and who have thus brought honor and distinction to Delta State University.
Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni Service Award: Presented to recognize outstanding service and contributions to Delta State University by an alumnus.
Kent Wyatt “Young Alumnus” Service Award: Presented to recognize outstanding service and contributions to Delta State University by a young alumnus (36 years of age or younger).
Gladys Castle “Friend” of Delta State Service Award: Presented to recognize outstanding service and contributions to Delta State University by a non-alumnus.
Legacy Award (first awarded in 2005): Presented to an alumnus who made an institutional changing impact on the university.
Henry Outlaw Retired Faculty/Staff Alumni Service Award: The Dr. Henry Outlaw Faculty/Staff Service Award was established in 2014 as a way to recognize former DSU faculty or staff members who have had a significant influence in the life of the university and/or the National Alumni Association. Nominees may be anyone who was employed by DSU. Nominees need not be Delta State alumni. This award may be given posthumously.
