Samuel Bryce Griffis, 90, passed away on December 09, 2020, due to COVID -19 complications. Bryce was born April 21, 1930, to Sam and Pauline Griffis in Sturgis MS. He grew up in Grenada MS and graduated from Grenada High School, where he was a four-sport letterman and an Eagle Scout.

He served four years in the Mississippi National Guard, including 18 months of active duty during the Korean conflict.

Steven J. (Steve) McClellan, 64, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 5, in his beloved Delta hunting grounds near Gunnison, Mississippi.

A lifelong son of the Delta, Steve’s beloved parents, Albert Polk McClellan and Gloria Jean Guerieri McClellan, both of Cleveland, preceded him in death and were there to welcome him to heaven, along with Steve’s dear nephew, Matt Gregory.

He began his educational journey at Bayou Academy and then earned degrees from Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University (BA and MBA).

Dr. Thomas Neville Boschert, 90, of Duncan, Mississippi, died at his home on October, 26, 2020 with family members present. Because of Covid-19 precautions, a family-only graveside burial service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020, in the Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, Mississippi handled the arrangements.

Dr. Boschert graduated from Duncan High School in 1946 and attended the University of Mississippi where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950.

Jimmy Umfress, 74, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born in Tildon, MS on January 25, 1945, he was a son of Riley Velton and Ruby Powell Umfress.

Jimmy graduated from Hatley High School. He retired from Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation after thirty-three years of service as a shift forman. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
